Laser Phase-Locking

TeraXion laser frequency control technology is applied to phase-lock two or more lasers with a precise and controllable frequency offset.  One DFB semiconductor laser, called the Local Oscillator, is phase-locked to another laser, called the Master or Carrier Laser, using an optical phase locking loop (OPLL).  Phase locking ensures that both lasers are mutually coherent within the bandwidth of the loop, which is of a few MHz.

Caractéristiques

  • Antenna remoting
  • RF LO generation and distribution (see ALMA projet)
  • LIDAR heterodyne detection
  • Coherent combining

Applications

  • Ultra low beat note phase noise
  • Widely tunable RF span
  • Semiconductor laser based
