Optical Delay Lines

Optical delay lines are fabricated within an optical fiber through the reflection on either a chirped fiber Bragg grating or a series of concatenated gratings. Precise adjustment of the optical delay is obtained through the control of the carrier wavelength. This solution provides an efficient way to control the phase of RF signals with significant advantages in term of weight, loss and dynamic range.

Features

  • Wide range of optical delays
    (10 ps – 100 ns)
  • Wavelength-dependent delays
  • Low insertion loss
  • High temporal accuracy

Applications

  • RF phase control
  • Beam steering
  • Phased array antenna
